USC's Position on Hazing

As stated in SCampus, "USC prohibits any students from engaging in hazing, defined as any activity that causes or is likely to cause bodily danger, physical harm, or personal degradation or disgrace resulting in physical or mental harm to any fellow student."

As of January 2007, in accordance with Matt's Law, hazing is now prosecuted as a felony in California.

The Greek community at USC also condemns hazing, as it in now way achieves the goals of sorority or fraternity membership such as service, scholarship, leadership, or friendship.

Recruitment Schedule!

USC Sorority Recruitment is made up of 5 distinct rounds- here's what they are and what to wear:

 Unity Days I and II

 Unity Days 1 & 2

On Unity Days, you will visit every sorority and have a chance to talk with a few women from each chapter. During this round you and your recruitment group will be guided from chapter to chapter by your recruitment counselors. These are the most casual days. Cute casual shorts, skirts, or pants with blouses are appropriate, as are casual dresses. Wear sandals, you’ll be doing a lot of walking, be comfortable!!!

Spirit Day

 Spirit Day
On Spirit Day, you will attend house tours at up to six chapters. Specific times will depend on your individual schedules. A sundress or nice skirt/pants & nice blouse are appropriate!

Pride Day

 Pride Day
On Pride Day, you will have the opportunity to see a video/slide show at up to four chapters that highlights each chapter's unique sisterhood. Specific times will depend on your individual schedule. A sundress or nice skirt/pants & nice blouse are appropriate!

Preference Day

Preference

Preference is a more formal day in which you will share breakfast and a ceremony with up to two sororities. After this day's events, you will fill out your final bid card. On this day, a nice dress--such as one you might wear to an afternoon wedding--is appropriate.

Bid Night!

Bid Night

On Bid Night, you will find out which sorority you have been invited to join, learn your recruitment counselor's affiliation, and then be taken to your Bid Night celebration- wear jeans or shorts and a t-shirt!
